Spence has been home for two weeks now. We have morphed back into being a whole family again with few glitches. I would like to take credit for the transition. (I do, after all, spend the length of our separations treating our lifestyle as normal. At times that takes serious determination!) I must give much of the credit to Spence. We celebrate his homecomings by throwing him into our routine and he just goes with the flow, even when the flow isn't his idea of fun!
So, here we are... Two weeks together. Two weeks during which we have done the tourist thing at Williamsburg, vacationed at my mom's house, visited with Russ and Sarah and driven 1400 miles with a stop in the middle to see more family and friends. We are still on an adventure. Today is our sixth night in a row in this hotel room. We have a house with nothing in it and there is no moving truck in sight. We spend the days walking to parks, checking out the local grocery stores, running around an empty house... Basically we are killing time, making up things to keep the kids busy.
During times that would push many families over the edge we find ourselves laughing often, enjoying the lack of activities and appreciating the wholeness of our family. We don't know how long it will last beyond our year in Kansas so we will make the most of it while we can.
I'm so glad y'all are together now.
ReplyDeleteGood for you guys! That in-between-households time can be so unnerving...glad you've found a way to enjoy it. Glad you've got a Daddy back to blame things on, too! ;)
